I am also a banjo player, a native Mountaineer from North Carolina. I play a unique style taught to my by Byard Ray, the Mountain Fiddler from Madison County, who was a relative. According to him, I would be the only person playing his style of banjo when he was gone (died around 1987). I know of no one else in the world that plays this style.
